TE April Calendar Challenge ...

The month of April has literally flown by!  I just realized this weekend that I hadn't put together my Calendar for the Taylored Expressions Calendar Challenge - April, so I sat down Sunday to create my Calendar.
I inked up TE's Spring Tulips Stamp Set and the sentiment from the Spring Cottage Stamp Set.  Colored the tulips with my Copic Makers, and added shading with various Distress Inks from Tim Holtz.  Final touch, which I am doing on all my calendars is to add some Lemondrop Twine from the Twinery with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, and layer the calendar on some A Muse Studio Buttercup Petite Polka Dot Cardstock.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Sunday Sketch & Stamp ...

Sassy Studio Designs is proud to be this weeks Sponsor for
I decided to paper piece this Sassy Army Honey using light weight kraft colored cardstock that I distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to give the hat and pants a little more definition.  The rest of Army Honey was colored with my Copic Markers. The ticket and mini paper clips are from Tim Holtz IDEA-ology collection.

The background was created with the zig-zag stamp from the Thankful for You Stamp set by Avocado Arts.  I don't remember the inks used for this part.  It was already stamped and laying in my stash, and I thought it would be the perfect backdrop for Honey.

Now it's time to show you this weeks sketch ...
The SSD Sponsorship Design Team have created some amazing projects to inspire you this week so head on over to Sassy Studio Designs Blog to see their creations, then head on over to Sunday Sketch & Stamp for all the details about this weeks challenge.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

CDAC Progressive Challenge #16 ...

Today's card is for the current CDAC Progressive Challenge #16.  I'm cutting this kinda close since the current challenge goes thru April 30th, and the theme is ... "Somethings in the Air"
This lovely Camelia Digital Stamp was provided by Wax Fruit Company.   I loved coloring this image with my Copic Markers and an Orange Spica Pen, but I wasn't really sure how to use it.  I finally just just layered coordinating cardstock to frame the flowers.

Now head on over to Crafter's Digital Art Center to see the inspiration provided by the Design Team, and get all the details about the challenge.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Other Products Used ... Neenah Solar White & Bazzill Basics Cardstock, Fiskars Scissors, and my trusty ATG.

Otherwise, I think I got this one down!

Just saying hello ...

I have a new Sassy Studio Designs Sponsorship to share with you today.  SSD is the Sponsor for the Challenge over at Incy Wincy Designs. This weeks Challenge is a Sketch, which I really enjoyed working with.

I created this card so that I could send a letter to my girlfriend, whom I don't see enough of, and we send notes or letters to each other to keep up with what is happening in our lives.
I used our Flapper Femme Sassy lady for my design, which you can purchase her in the SSD store here.  I created a window for her to wave thru ... just as the sentiment states ... just saying hello.
I think of the window as being part of a door, and once you open the door you can see Flapper in all her glory.
Here is the card completely open.  Lots of room to write my letter.

Now for the sketch we were given to work with ...
Don't you just love this sketch?

The rest of the SSD Sponsorship Design Team created some awesome projects for this challenge so head on over to Sassy Studio Designs Blog to see them.  Once you're done there, hop on over to Incy Wincy Designs to see what they have created to inspire you, and join in the fun!

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Thinking of you ...

I have a quick post before I head off to bed.  I've been wanting to play along with the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches (#31), and I finally got a chance to create a card this evening.  So here goes ...
I didn't get a chance to showcase this Sassy Elizabeth Laura Bennett Digital Stamp from Sassy Studio Designs during the release week, so I colored her with my Copic Markers for this weeks sketch challenge.  The sentiment is hand written by me; I'm thinking maybe I should have used a stamp. ;o)

Here is this weeks sketch ...

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Other products used ... Neenah Solar White & Bazzill Cardstock, DP from My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline (Howdy Doody) - not sure which is the name of the DP, both were highlighted - Nestabilities Oval Dies, Fiskars Scissors & Fingertip Blade, 3D Foam Squares, and my trusty ATG.

Sassy Studio Designs April Release Blog Hop ...

Hello, and welcome to the Sassy Studio Designs April Release Blog Hop.  This is my first Blog Hop as a Designer for SSD, and I'm so happy to be here!  This months images were inspired/requested by you, our awesome Sassy Fans!

Now, if you arrived at my blog from the very talented Designer Regan you're on the right track.  If you just arrived, head on over to Sassy Studio Designs Blog so you can start at the beginning!
I get to share my design using the "Kim Kutie Roller Sassy".  This Sassy Lady is named after Kim Kutie who suggested her!  My design is very CAS.  Kim was colored with Copic Markers, and then I applied several different shades of Tim Holtz Distress Ink around her.  The sentiment is from the It's OK Stamp Set by Ali Edwards (Technique Tuesday).

Now for the question of the day ...
  • My favorite tool would have to be my Fiskars Fingertip Blade.  I normally do a LOT of fussy cutting when I work with my Sassy images and using this blade gives me more control when I'm cutting them out.  Especially, those hard to cut areas!
  • My least favorite tool would have to be my Heat Gun!  I always have problems heat embossing images, and it takes me many times until the image looks good enough to use on a project.  A lot of waste happens when I decide to heat emboss. LOL!
Now, it wouldn't be a Blog Hop without prizes right!  All you have to do to qualify for one of the prizes is comment on all of the Designers blogs today.  Here is a list of the Designer so you don't miss anyone.

Sassy Studio Designs Designers
~ Julie ~ Karen ~ Kate ~ Kathy ~ Kim ~ Lori

Remember to tell us what your favorite and least favorite tool is over at the SSD Blog, and also remember that if you don't WIN any of the NEW Sassy images you can purchase them at the Sassy Studio Design Store

The Design Team will be chatting at 10:00 PM EST tonight over at the SSD Party Blog.  I hope you can join us!

Your next stop is another very talented Designer, and her name is ... Sara.

Thank you for hopping with us today!

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Unity Friends with ... FLAIR!

I created a set of blank note cards for the Friends with .... FLAIR!!! over at the Unity Blog.  I used the Sponging a Layer technique that I discovered last week.  This set was created with the Quiet Essence (MSK-011B) Unity Stamp set!

Here is a close up of each card ...

This completes the set of 12 cards I created for the Scavenger Hunt Prize that my husband asked me to make.  I made two other sets using this same technique, but with other products.  You can scroll down to see the other two sets.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Other Products used ... Neenah Solar White cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Copic Markers, Scrap Paper, Tape, and a Dauber.

Soooo, are you ready for another SSD Sneak Peak!

This Sassy lady is called "Wednesday Sara Addams".  Wednesday is super sexy, and she is the daughter of Gomez and Morticia from The Addams Family.  She brings back many fond memories of watching The Addams Family when I was younger.  Wednesday will be available on Saturday in the SSD store.

This weeks Dare to be Sassy Thursday Challenge #121 is all about flowers and flourishes, and I used both in combination with the current Midnight Madness April Sketch.

Now head on over to Sassy Studio Designs Blog to see what the rest of the Sassy Design Team created to inspire you.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Thinking of you ...

I have another set of cards I created using the technique for the current Just Us Girls Technique Challenge (#132), which is called Sponging a Layer.  I combined the technique challenge with two other challenges for this set.  We have the Clean & Simple Sketch #186 and CAS-ual Friday's Opposites Attract (#48).

So here goes ...
I once again went 1-layer, but instead of having the butterflies disappear like I did with my last set I kept the full image.

I also made all four of the cards identical this time. Only one more set to complete the dozen cards for my husband.

Now for the inspirational photos ...

This technique is so easy that I created these cards while watching TV with the husband last night.  Total time for all four cards was only an hour.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Products used ... Whimsical Wishes Make it Amazing Stamp Set from Taylored Expressions, Neenah Solar White cardstock, Tim Holtz Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Marker B02 (Robin's Egg Blue), Scrap Paper, and a Dauber.

Just a note ...

This is my second post today, so if you're looking for my
Sassy Studio Designs post please scroll down. ;o)

I love learning new techniques, and the challenge this week at Just Us Girls (#132) has a super cool technique challenge that I just had to try!  The technique is called "Sponging a Layer" and you can learn more about it here. I combined the technique with the Scrapbook & Cards Color Suite Challenge for April

I'm going to say this now ... I LOVE IT ... the results are super awesome.

Have a look ...
After I made my first card (above), I had so much fun that I had to make some more ...

Last month the hubby asked me to make a set of cards for a prize they will give out for the Scavenger Hunt at his Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA in June.  I showed these to my husband, and he thought that I adhered ribbon to my card. When I told him it was all 1-layer he was shocked, and he really loved them.  I told him that I will be make a set of 12 cards using this technique with different flowers and colors.

Here are the inspiration photos ...

Since I used my DeNami stamps for this challenge, I'm also submitting them for the current DeNami Theme Challenge #10.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Products used ... G109 Single Daisy, D75 Small Daisy Bloom & TR16 All Occasion Sentiment Stamp Set from DeNami Design, Neenah Solar White Cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Copic Markers, Scrap Paper and a Dauber.

Just a note ...

I hope you had a marvelous weekend.  We celebrated my daughter, Katie's, 20th Birthday!  She loved all of her presents, and going out to dinner!  I'm sending a cake to school so she can celebrate with her classmates today. Enough of that ...

Sassy Studio Designs is the Sponsor for this weeks Challenge over at
The theme for Challenge #115 is "Inspired by a Movie"!

While looking thru my Sassy images I chose to work with Country Donna which you can find at the SSD Store here.  She reminds me of Ellie Mae Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies.  Yes, this was a movie in 1993 and it was based on the television series from the '70's.

I thought about making her overalls pink with a white tee in honor of reconnecting with my friend Teena on FB, whom I hung out with as a teenager.  There is a picture of us in pink overalls that I'm hoping she doesn't post on FB. LOL!   Alas, I didn't go in that direction ... I chose my colors based on another '70's show called Green Acres.

I used the sketch for the current

Now head on over to the SSD Blog to see what the other Design Team members created to inspire you, and then hop over to The Crazy Challenge Blog for all the details about the challenge.  Maybe you'll be inspired to combine the challenges like I did!

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Other projects used ... AC Evergreen cardstock, Neenah Solar White, DP from Happily Lost by Lilybee Design, and Bazzill scraps, Copic Markes, May Arts Ribbon from "My Craft's Prize package", Recollections Rhinestone, Me & My Big Ideas Icons, Thinking of You Sentiment from SRM Stickers #51006, Nestabilities S4-142 Long Rectangles Large & S4-239 Classic Scalloped Border Petites, A Muse Studio Word Windows Die, Scrapbook Adhesive Tape & 3D Foam Squares, Mini - Micro & Pop Up Glue Dots, Fiskars Scissors & Fingertip Blade, and my trust ATG.
