Just Chilling ...

Good afternoon. Just hoping in to share a card I created for the Make it Crafty CAS Challenge - Background Techniques. I'm cutting it close for the challenge, but had a lot of FUN creating my background for today's card.

I printed two (2) copies of this awesome image called Scott Sitting. I colored one image with my trusty Copic Markers, and fussy cut him out. The second image was used to create the background for today's card. I used a ruler and a pencil to draw in the lines for my floor and wall. Once done I went over the lines with a 0.35 Black Copic Multi-Liner, as shown in the picture below.

Once I finished creating the background I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to add my color. Post-it notes were used to cover the area I didn't want to ink, and then I commenced with applying the Walnut Stain to the floor with a dauber. For the walls I reversed the post-it notes, and used Kleenex to dab the walls with Antique Linen & Tea Dye. I really love how the wall turned out.

Next up was to create the floor board since I didn't like how the finished background looked. I layered 1/8" white cardstock on top of  1/4" piece, and then added the floor board to my design. Once done, I added Scott Sitting to the scene with a combination of 3D foam square (thin & standard size) and tape. The final touch was to add black rhinestones to the shirt for the buttons.

I really enjoyed creating the background for this cool guy. My son was the inspiration for the colors that were used for the image, and it will be his birthday card this year.

Just a Note ...

Good evening. I hope everyone had a safe Memorial weekend. Me, after finishing household chores I did some crafting for FUN. I pulled out my new stamp from Great Impression to create today's card.

This beautiful stamp is called Potted Flowers Rubber Stamp (H267). This is such a beautiful stamp and can be used for many occasions. I went with a note card to add to my final shipment for Operations Write Home. I stamped two (2) copies of the image, colored with my Copic Markers, and fussy cut the front pot on the extra copy which I layered for some dimension. Once done, I added the sentiment and applied distress ink for the grass and sky surrounding the pot of flowers.

Good morning and Happy Friday! I've been dog/cat sitting for my son this week while he's on vacation with his family. It's a joy to have my grand-dog visit, but I'm looking forward to dropping him off at home tonight and having my craft-time back.

Enough about me ... I have an awesome Sale that starts today to tell you about over at Sami Stamps.

What's so Special about the Sale you ask? Well the Design Team got to choose stamps to work with, and each of those stamps will be 1/2-off for a limited time. That's not all! All other images are also on Sale. Super cool right!

Arms Full of Love Memories ...

Good morning. Sami Stamps is Sponsoring this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketches #299, and since I absolutely love to work with sketches I decided to play along.

This lovely image is called Arms Full of Love and can be found under the Baby and Parents Section at the Sami Store. I created a Mother's Day card for my daughter-in-law who is celebrating her 1st year as a mom to my adorable grandson. The bookmark I made last week for the Release/Challenge #25 will be accompanying the card. Now to finalize a personal note for the inside.

I didn't put "Happy Mother's Day" on the front of the card, because I found the "Memories" metal sign in my stash from a swap. The sentiment perfectly fits with holding your child, and experiencing motherhood for the first time.

Copic Markers are the medium used for coloring the image with distress inks applied around the image.

How about a look at the Sketch I got to work with ...

Graduation card ...

Good morning! I'm hosting the Art by Miran Blog today. Our "Theme" for the month of May is to add "Twine/Fiber" to your project.

This lovely is called Graduating Kim! One of my nieces is graduating from High School later this month so I created the card in her school colors ... hunter green/white. Kim was colored with my Copic Markers, and then fussy cut out and put on the side. The design of my graduation card was inspired by Sketch Saturday #359.

My "Fiber" is embroidery thread (DMC 500) from my stash. I used the thread to create the lines in the sketch, and attached it with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher along with some tape along the back of the cardstock. I created a layered backdrop for Kim using my MFT Pcd Rectangle STAX die, layered it on my design leaving the background white. It looked a little blah at this point so I stamped a couple sentiments sporadically around my design. It still needed more so I daubed a kleenex with the same ink used for the sentiment, and just blotted it on the background.

Here's a closer look ...

Copics: E000, E00, E04, E11, E21 & R20 (skin); YR21, YR23, YR24 & E09 (hair)
G20, G24, G28 & G29 (cap & gown)

House of Cards May Challenge ...

Good Morning! It's the 1st of the month which means that I have a new House of Cards challenge to share with you! This month we are challenging you to try a technique called the Bokeh Effect!

There are a lot of Tutorials on YouTube that shows you the different ways to create a card using the Bokeh Effect. After watching several of them I created a couple of cards to share with you today.

I tried a couple different mediums to create the background and chose the ones I created with Distress Inks. The sentiment was FREE from Clear & Simple Stamps ... a Customer Appreciation stamp that I received this year. So happy I used it for my cards this month since these are going into my Operation Write Home Box. As for the Bokeh effect ... I had issues with the ink, and plan on trying again with another ink soon. Practice makes perfect!

Make sure you hop on over to the House of Cards Challenge Blog for all of the details for entering our Monthly Challenges! I can't wait to see what inspires you this month!

Sami Stamps Release and Challenge #25 ...

Good morning and Happy Friday! It's Release Week at Sami Stamps today, and we also have a NEW Challenge for you to play along with for the month of May.

With Mother's Day fast approaching this weeks Release is perfect for the Mom's in your life or soon to be New Mom! It's called A Mother's Sweet!

I created a bookmark for my daughter-in-law, who is an avid reader, and she is also celebrating her 1st year as a mother to my adorable 7-mos old grandson. Copic Markers were used to color the beautiful image called Holding my Sweet, and distress ink was applied to the background after creating the bookmark with my YNS Die. I pulled out some of my old embroidery thread to create the tassel for the bookmark.

Copics: E000, E00, E04, E11, E21 (skin), YR21, YR23, YR25 & E09 (hair)
